What this community is for
FieldToKitchen exists to help families buy food directly from the people who produce it. This community is where that gets practical: asking questions before a purchase, figuring out what to cook, managing a full freezer, and helping each other find good local sources.
A few things we care about, stated plainly:
Be helpful and be honest
The best posts here sound like a knowledgeable friend, not a critic or a salesperson. Share what you actually know and say when you're unsure.
Real experiences, clearly labeled
When you write about a farm or product, write from your own experience. If you want to record your judgment of something you bought, a Field Note on that product is the right home for it. Threads are for questions, situations, and conversation.
Farmers are people, and they're here
Verified farmers answer questions under a badge that identifies them. They speak from real expertise about their own work. Treat them the way you'd want customers treating you.
Zero tolerance for hate and harassment
No exceptions, no warnings required.
Posts naming a specific farm get a human look
If your post raises a problem with a named producer, it's held briefly for review before publishing. That's not censorship. It protects you from posting something you can't take back, protects farms from unverified claims, and makes sure real problems reach the process that can actually fix them. Legitimate questions about shared situations get published. See "When something goes wrong" below.
Moderation here is done by a person, and people get things wrong
If you think we made a bad call, tell us at community@fieldtokitchen.com. We'd rather correct a mistake than defend one.
When something goes wrong
If you had a problem with an order or a product, report it through our report form first. We follow up on every report. If it turns out others are affected, we'll ask about it publicly ourselves or publish a factual notice. If it's a safety issue, we will act as soon as we can.
